Travel & CrossFit

CrossFit has become a way of life for my husband and I. We’ve been living, breathing, and sleeping CrossFit for around 10 months now. My husband started first when Lian’s Facebook page  popped up on his news feed. He was like hmmmm….I like fitness and training. I’ll give it a try. Three months later, I joined on the bandwagon. And boy I’m glad I did! Now we are hopefully opening our own box in Taiwan this year! So far we’ve been to boxes in China, the United States, and Taiwan. This coming weekend, my husband will get to visit a box in India! He is getting his CrossFit Gymnastics Certification there. After the Level 1 CrossFit Certification, there are additional courses you can take to up your credentials. Once I get a little better at the CrossFit fundamentals (strict pull ups in particular), I’ll be taking the CrossFit Level 1 Certification, so I can coach at our future box!

So how does this relate to travel you might be asking? My husband and I have set a goal. Everywhere we travel, we will try and find a box to drop-in at. CrossFit is essentially the same everywhere, but we have noticed minor differences in each country. Each box has a personality, which makes it unique. The more we can learn about CrossFit, the better we can make our own box. At each box, there is something you can take away to make your box even better. Plus we have found that no matter where you drop-in at, you will feel welcomed. CrossFit forms a community and bond that stretches across the world. We’ve met the most amazing people from all walks of life at the different boxes. At your home box, it’s like your immediate family. You can turn to your fellow athletes for almost anything! Even stuff besides CrossFit can be talked about and be completely normal. Another cool thing is that most coaches know English. So no matter where you drop-in, you can understand the WOD (work out of the day) and make new friends!

I’m excited to see where our travels take us, and which boxes we get to visit. I’ll be sure to do blog posts on them. So now for my quick spiel on CrossFit. I highly recommend it for anyone of any fitness level. I use to think it was intimidating, but I’ve found that it’s the most welcoming kind of fitness! Everyone is so supportive and genuinely wants you to do your best. I’ve seen so many changes in my body & mind, and I’ve been pushed like I’ve never been pushed before. I’ve done things I never thought I could do. It’s such a rewarding feeling. So…go out and try CrossFit! Let me know if you do! And if you already do CrossFit, let me know where you home box is!
